Our website is for everybody to enjoy
At Damart we’re committed to creating a website that’s accessible to everybody, regardless of technology or ability. We’re always working to increase how easy our website is to see and use. That’s why we stick closely to the standards and guidelines.
We’ve made it our mission to bring all areas of the site up to the same level of web accessibility. You’ll see we’re constantly updating sections and if you have trouble accessing any part of it, please let us know by email https://www.damart.co.uk/contact-us or call us on 0800 917 5305.
What can you change for a better experience?
You can view our website on a range of screen sizes. Plus, the size of text can be changed too. You can also search for things and our sitemap should make finding information easier.
How to change your settings?
This is easy once you know how. Using your web browser, you can change the size of text on this website. You can also make other helpful changes in your browser, and within your computer generally.

General information
Here are just a few of the general features we’ve included to make our website more accessible:
• Clear, simple language that’s easy to understand
• Using common web conventions
• Avoided blinking or flickering elements
• Using validated HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
Standards compliance
We’re constantly making sure we meet level AA compliance, which is set by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). In some places our website provides enhanced features using JavaScript. Our goal is to make our website works just the same, even if you don’t have JavaScript. We’re working on this.
We also carry out automated accessibility tests. As they’re automated, these tools aren’t quite as reliable as expert evaluation. So pages are also tested in a variety of screen-reading applications.
Background, text and colour
We carefully choose the text colours, size and background colours on our site, to make it as clear as possible to help those with a range of visual impairments. Here's what we've done:
Colour friendly
Our site is colour friendly to anyone who struggles with colour blindness. We've checked the fonts and background colours so there aren’t any combinations that affect readability, while making sure information is still clear.
Plus all our pages that have information in colour are also available in black and white.
Font and text size
We've used clear, legible fonts for all text and headings. You can change the size of the font in the Firefox browser by:
• selecting View
• then Text Size
• then choose increase or decrease
Style sheets
As a design feature, this site uses cascading style sheets (CSS) for visual layout. If your device doesn’t support style sheets, don’t worry. Where possible, we made sure you can still navigate, use and read our website.
Images, videos and other elements
You can use our site without having to view graphics or images. All non-text elements, like those mentioned above, have text equivalents. We've done this by providing descriptive alt attributes for them. While purely decorative graphics or formatting images have empty alt attributes.
Links and navigation
We’ve structured our website so it’s simple and easy to use, which improves the experience for everyone. Simple things like putting page items in a logical order and making the website easy to find your way around, make it easier for people with visual impairments, motor deficiencies and cognitive disabilities.
Navigating pages
Navigation links are consistent between pages throughout our site. It’s also fully accessible using only the keyboard and can be navigated with scripting disabled.
Pop-up windows
Our website only uses pop-up windows when they’re needed. For instance, when it’s important to see the browser window you've just navigated from in the background.
Forms and tables
Clearly labelled tables make understanding the content on a page easier, and it’s easier to fill content in, in the right places.
Tables
Sometimes we use tables in our layout but we make sure we follow WCAG guidelines. This means tables don’t have any structural mark-up for visual purposes and they make sense when presented in a linear way. Which is ideal when you’re using a screen-reader.
Would you like to speak to us but have a hearing or speech impairment? No problem!
Text relay offers text-to-speech and speech-to-text translation services. A relay assistant in the call centre acts as an intermediary, enabling people with hearing or speech impairments to communicate with other people over the telephone. Please visit
